Practice
Founded in 2016 in Biarritz by Loïc Brunsard and Hervé Lot, B+L is an architecture practice that takes its projects from design to completion on site, open to all kinds of commissions, regardless of scale or programme.
Individual and collective housing, schools, healthcare facilities, heritage, media libraries, community hubs... the practice now works on a wide variety of programmes.

Building
B+L believes in building the projects it designs in order to guarantee the quality of their execution and their cost.
Alongside the practice, we have therefore set up Echelle 1, a company dedicated to site delivery, combining surveys, cost planning and site management.

Method
The practice approaches each project through a reflection on built form, materiality and the use value of spaces.
For each project, we strive to bring out unexpected solutions through a process combining dialogue, formal research and drawing.

Commitments
We believe that being architects means, above all, taking full responsibility for what we build, well beyond mere contractual or regulatory obligations.
The practice is therefore involved today in various organisations and associations:
We are members of Odeys, an innovative architecture cluster, of Idre working to set up a reuse sector, members of Rfcp, the French Straw Building Network, and Loïc Brunsard is an assessor for Bdna, the Sustainable Buildings in Nouvelle-Aquitaine scheme.
In 2021, Hervé Lot co-founded, with Cécile Cano and Patxi Gardera, Super Cellule, an association of architects, artists and designers exploring new ways of sharing architectural culture with the public.
Finally, we are signatories of the Manifesto for a Happy and Creative Frugality and are affiliated with 308, the Bordeaux house of architecture, which recently rewarded our work with a prize at Prad’a 2022 in category M – “Adapting” for our “house at the bottom of the garden” in Anglet.
