Our reuse approach

An approach built up over the years:
Since its beginnings, the practice has sought to promote reuse in its projects.
In a few years, this practice has grown from almost confidential initiatives – entrusting our first deconstruction sites to Patxam’a at the time – into a genuine design approach.
As attitudes have changed, the practice now works more and more on projects in which reuse plays a significant part.
Projects such as the 22 homes for Office 64 that we are building in Anglet are among those foreshadowing a new approach which, we hope, will become the norm in the future.
Today the practice is increasingly involved with players in the sector. In particular, we are members ofIdre and shareholders of the cooperative (S.C.I.C.) Patxam’a.

Circularity:
We believe that a reuse approach only makes sense if it is rooted in a timeframe that goes beyond the mere use of what we build, transform or rehabilitate.

We therefore now offer our clients a broader approach combining:
- A careful deconstruction (where demolition is needed) to recover the resources of the existing building.
- The use of reclaimed materials from on or off site where this proves durable and consistent with the expected level of performance.
- The use of bio-based materials sourced locally as far as possible.
The idea being that what we build becomes, for the future, a resource rather than waste.
