The house at the bottom of the garden
A house in a grove.
At the far end of a large garden in Anglet, away from the main villa, a small house for one person takes the place of a former, densely wooded grove. Everyone keeps their independence without leaving the shared garden.
Inside, the timber roof structure stays legible under the sloping ceilings and gives the rooms, compact as they are, height and light; large sliding windows open everyday life onto the garden. Outside, a trellis runs along the north-west façade: little by little, vegetation climbs the wall and restores the greenery lost during construction.
The project won an award at Prad’A 2022, a prize given by Le 308, the Bordeaux house of architecture.
